Yaki Sugi is a process of roasting the wood on knife handles to create a darker and more water-resistant finish (but not waterproof), often with better grip. This service can be offered on ho wood, ichii, and cherry Japanese style handles and creates a look and finish similar to the burnt chestnut handles featured on some knives we carry. We can not provide this service for western style handles, ebony handles, pakkawood handles, or burnt chestnut handles.
